Dr. Mayank Agarwal, Managing Director of the IIMT Group of Colleges and IIMT University, has steadily risen to national prominence as one of India’s most impactful education reformers and social entrepreneurs. His contributions span education, public service, and youth development—earning him recognition as a defining figure in North India’s education landscape.
Over the past two decades, Dr. Agarwal has led the transformation of IIMT from a regional academic institution into one of North India’s largest integrated education networks, now serving over 30,000 students and employing more than 3,000 faculty and staff across multiple campuses.
“We are building more than infrastructure,” Dr. Agarwal said in a recent address. “We are creating platforms for leadership, character, and service.”
Education Rooted in Access, Equity, and Innovation
Under Dr. Agarwal’s leadership, IIMT has prioritized access and affordability for students across urban and rural areas of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh. The institution disburses more than Rs 10 crore annually in scholarships, focused on students from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
The curriculum and infrastructure at IIMT reflect a blend of tradition and technology. The group now includes dedicated incubation centres for startups, specialized programs in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and skill development initiatives aligned with India’s national priorities such as Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Pandemic Response Reflects Leadership in Crisis
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Agarwal launched several humanitarian initiatives under the IIMT banner. He provided free education to over 100 children who had lost a parent to the virus and supported over 5,000 families with food and essentials during the lockdown. His team also facilitated vaccination camps and distributed medical supplies in both Meerut and Greater Noida.
He personally contributed Rs 10 lakh to the Prime Minister’s and Chief Minister’s relief funds and repurposed IIMT’s campuses for emergency health services. These efforts were widely acknowledged by community leaders and state officials.
Socio-Cultural Engagement and National Alignment
Dr. Agarwal’s institutional philosophy draws heavily from cultural and nationalist thought leaders such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He actively promotes environmental awareness, regional arts, and value-based education through his roles as:
- President, Sanskar Bharti (Meerut)
- Seh Sanyojak, BJP Sikshan Sansthan Prakosht (UP)
- President, Shri Ram Sanskriti Trust
- Past Lt. Governor, Rotary International District 3100
He has played a key role in organizing cultural programs such as Ram Katha events, Sanskrit promotion workshops, and community marriage ceremonies for underprivileged girls.
